The main character of Luminae is a light goddess called Elle who brings light and life to the mortal world. A being of passion and curiosity, she creates beauty wherever she goes, seeking new ways of giving colour and clarity to an otherwise dim and dreary world.

 

Though Elle's powers are vast and her lifespan long, she is not inherently eternal. Every so often she must return to the tower from which she draws power in order to renew herself physically and emotionally. The weight of the ages takes its toll on her. And without her energy and zest for life, the outside world succumbs to the drab haze it had before her arrival.

This particular cycle will be one of Elle's most difficult: she has lingered too long in the mortal world, unwilling to let it go. The tower adapts to reflect what she has lost, and this lifetime, much has been lost. She has never before returned so diminished, but the journey to restore herself will bring with it more wisdom and joy than she could ever imagine.
